Beetle Bottoms and the Eyes in the Night celebrates acceptance of people, races and cultures and the beauty of seeing the world through a child's eyes. After a swarm of bees lands in her tree, Pip wakes to discover a pair of eyes outside her window.
She is surprised to find the eyes belong to a boy called Hummer. It is the first time either of them have seen a differently coloured Beetle Bottom and, although shocked at first by their different appearances, they strike up an instant friendship.
This book is being used by many teachers as a light and fun starting point for discussions around not judging people by how they look or by their differences.
